Sampo is a poor dog who has spent his life having to survive in his native Romania with a disability. This boy has a deformity to his back legs which comes from the knee caps having moved from the front of the knee joint to the back. He is therefore crouching a little like a frog and does have to hop around, rather than walk.
Nevertheless, Sampo is an adorable character, he has a huge personality and very keen to have cuddles. He just loves spending time with people. He travels in his buggy on hard surfaces but can have a good hop around on grass. He actually loves his buggy, he must be enjoying being able to see the world whilst being wheeled around! He has a very positive outlook on life and can charm virtually anyone, dog lover or not! He has real charisma and is a real inspiration to all of us. This is a boy who has not had an easy life but he makes the best of it.
He enjoys the outdoor, would love a nice garden to potter in and to be taken places in his buggy. Sampo weighs about 25kg, so will need a fit person who can lift him up into a car or help him get into his buggy. It's not a problem everyone in the team do it, but something to be aware of, he would need to be adopted by someone relatively fit.
Sampo loves other dogs but can at time be a bit over the top and we can see him being someone's dog as an only pet as he loves the attention. It will need someone that can be with
Sampo was seen by our orthopaedic surgeon, we had a 3D scan made of his skeleton to understand his conformation and we decided that surgery would be far too invasive and risky. Moreover he is a very affectionate dog who does love life and with the support of his buggy and perhaps access to a lovely garden, fields or parks, beach he will be a very content dog.
All in all a super dog, he will be a one in a lifetime kind of friend who will be sure to enhance anyone's social life at the park! A real head turner with a golden personality, this boy is just so good! Sampo is looking for a loving compassionate, fun and fit family, if there are any children, 12+ please and preferably as an only dog although he does get along with dogs very well.
He will be the kind of dog to appeal to someone who has a real rescue mentality, wanting to make a difference where many others would not. He also needs to live in a house where he will not be expected to do stairs, as this would be difficult for him.

All our dogs go on home trial for two weeks before an adoption. We offer post adoption support and access to a behaviourist and trainer for the life of our dogs.
