Our Story...

Love UnderDogs was set up by animal lovers who wanted to make the world a better place by helping and supporting some of the most unwanted, abused, neglected and voiceless dogs.

The journey started in 2011 with a dog shelter we visited in Romania. Having seen the conditions locally, we had to help… Love UnderDogs was born and we have never looked back since!

In 2012, we started rehoming dogs from the Victory shelter in Brasov, whose lives had been nothing but pain and suffering, when all they wanted was love.

Seeing their destiny change and their eyes, previously filled with sadness and despair, come alive was just magical. What could be more wonderful than to see those faces light up at the thought of life taking a turn for the better?

Great things can be achieved when we all work together towards a common goal, creating more happiness in the world. We welcome you to join us on this wonderful journey. It is a privilege to be able to make a difference and we would like to share it with as many of you as we can.

The Love Underdogs rehoming program is part of a bigger picture aiming at changing the management of stray dogs in Romania, starting with a pilot operation in Brasov. Our colleagues in Romania have been making a difference in the Brasov area of the Transylvanian mountains for the past 18 years and we are privileged to work alongside such a dedicated team, as well as BMT Germany and the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.

With your support, we contribute to neutering campaigns, local education programs as well as support and supervision at the local pound. The pound, previously one of the most notoriously cruel kill shelters in the whole of Romania, has been turned into an exemplary place, where dogs are cared for and no euthanasia of healthy dogs takes place.

We send supplies collected by our supporters over to the shelter monthly as well as funds for vaccinations, medical care and improvements at the shelter.

Whilst we take great pride in finding good homes for these truly amazing dogs, our aim is to effect long lasting change in Romania through your support with the hope that one day, all Romanian dogs will be adopted in their own country. In the meantime, we are here to help wonderful dogs who have so little and deserve a chance to find a loving family of their own.
